why is it so hard to take a day off?

after coming clean to coach bridget about my achy hip, back, leg, and foot, she suggested i skip sunday's ten miler.

i politely declined.

she then insisted.

i caved.

i know it's good for me but WOW was that hard to do!

I can totally relate to this one, though I don't really have an answer to your question.

I mean, I'd like to think it's something noble like "competitive spirit" or "dedication" or even "boundless optimism," but in my case, at least, it's probably a lot closer to obstinacy or the irrational fear that even a day or two off would lead to total muscular atrophy and loss of cardiovascular fitness.

Taking the last week off has honestly been one of the hardest things I've done. As a runner, at least.
